At the centre of a cultural capital

Chelsea Independent College could not be better located for students interested in the arts, with some of the world’s best art galleries in reach within minutes.

The Art department takes full advantage of the college’s position in the heart of London, and leads regular visits to the capital’s galleries. Recent trips have included viewing the work of Jasper Johns at the Royal Academy, visiting the permanent collection at Tate Britain and attending a Gregory Crewdson exhibition at the Photographers' Gallery. These trips offer students an enriching experience, the research of which forms a vital part of their A-Level coursework.

For students with an interest in photography, we run a Photography Club twice a week. This club is open to students who do not formally study the subject as well as those enrolled on the A-Level course. Students learn practical photographic techniques and analyse a range of historical and contemporary photographers.
