GCSE Science,

Maths & Computing

Intro text

Science, Maths and Computing is a large and dynamic department at CIC.

All GCSE students study mathematics and one science in line with our core requirements, alongside further subjects of their choice from within both this faculty and other areas.

Our Science, Maths and Computing staff are subject specialists and passionate about their fields. Teaching is often extended beyond the syllabus and outside the classroom.

Science and Maths students are encouraged to take part in national Olympiads – and regularly bring home awards – whilst ICT students can put their skills to practise in Robotics Club.

Recent department trips include visiting Diamond Light Source, the UK’s national synchrotron science facility, and CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research in Switzerland.

As in all our departments, class sizes are kept small to ensure sufficient individual guidance to fully prepare students for the demands of A-Levels.
