Chelsea Independent College Underwent ISI Inspection

Chelsea Independent College Underwent ISI Inspection

Chelsea Independent College underwent an Independent School Inspectorate inspection in September this year, and we are delighted to share with you the Chelsea Independent College ISI report which contains many extremely positive comments.

Letter from the Principal

We were visited for a full, combined inspection in September, and I can now tell you officially that we passed with flying colours. You will note that Chelsea is fully compliant with all safety and welfare regulations and standards, that we received a 'good' (the equivalent of a silver medal) in our academic and extracurricular achievements and an 'excellent' (a gold) for the quality of the pupils' personal development.

There are also, right through the report, many words of praise for the college. For instance, I note that our pupils, who were interviewed and observed by inspectors, are judged to be confident and independent, to have a strong sense of moral awareness, to be tolerant, and to appreciate other cultures. Attitudes to learning were recognised as very positive, and pupils of all abilities were judged to be making excellent progress. A huge range of subjects and activities, such as Mandarin, Photography, History, Mathematics, English, the Student Council, the Debating Club, Robotics, and Government and Politics, amongst others, are all positively mentioned and used as examples by the inspectors. Our safeguarding and welfare arrangements are second to none.

A few highlights from the report include:

  • The teaching enables pupils to make good progress, encompasses effective behaviour management and is supported by suitable resources
  • Principles and values are actively promoted which facilitate the personal development of pupils as responsible, tolerant, law-abiding citizens
  • The pupils' academic and other achievement is good
  • Pupils display well developed knowledge, skills and understanding and can apply these skills successfully across all areas of learning
  • Pupils have very well developed communication skills
  • The quality of the pupils' personal development is excellent
  • At all ages, pupils develop high levels of self-confidence, self-awareness and self-esteem
  • Pupils have a very strong sense of what is morally correct. This is because teaching provides opportunities for pupils to explore moral considerations.
